“A show in quick transition”
 
The 22nd Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition SIFE marked the beginning of a massive transition taking place in the China furniture industry. The China domestic furniture market really showed off its power at the 22nd SIFE. Taking place in the fastest moving and fastest growing city in China, you could feel the strong presence of domestic visitors along with a powerful floor dedicated to both domestic and international buyers.

Some of the major changes taking place at SIFE this March were the addition of the Southeast Asian Domain featuring large exhibiting groups from Indonesia and Malaysia. They are the first foreign exhibitors to begin taking advantage of the strong China domestic market by reaching the biggest Chinese buyers and wholesalers at SIFE.

The city of Shenzhen in the south of China is representing the strongest base to begin approaching the vast new markets in mainland China for furniture. At the same time SIFE continues to be a strong platform for exhibitors to reach international buyers.

In response to such large industry news and changes in the last year, the Shenzhen Furniture Trade Association SZFA has strengthened its position further as the number one furniture association in China by upgrading several of its key 10 projects including SIFE. SZFA Secretary General, Oliver Hou, is now aggressively taking position as China’s top furniture industry leader as he now opens the SZFA 10 projects to foreign co-operation. Of the ten projects, the Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition SIFE is the most recognized as Oliver Hou recently completed deals with the Southeast Asian countries in participating in the March 2009 SIFE along with completing a new deal with the famous German supply and component show, ZOW, to also begin co-operating starting in March 2009.

Oliver Hou is also taking his position as China’s top furniture industry leader by hosting China’s first international furniture forum this year at the 22nd SIFE. Key leaders from Asia, USA and Europe were present to kick start the newly established forum. For the first time leaders from abroad received inside information about how the entire China furniture industry is shifting and how new big business opportunities are rapidly developing.

Of the issues discussed at the forum, the most important would be the attractiveness of China’s domestic furniture market. Oliver Hou through his strong connection to the government and furniture industry is now leading both Chinese and foreign brands to the awakening of China’s domestic furniture market. As a result, the 23rd SIFE will not change its dates from August to September, but however remain established on a key date and position for answering the demand of domestic buyers.
